Zegapain File.01

Zegapain is a grand, post-apocalyptic Sunrise mecha series. The DVD visual quality is superb, as are the sound and dialog quality. The First Press edition came with a box to hold the first four DVDs, along with a color booklet with nice character illustrations and descriptions. The box has line drawings in green on a black background which look quite sharp. Among the interesting details is a brief description on the outside of the box and on the DVD cover that states that the series is set in 2022. That is the first time that I have seen that date associated with the series. Re-watching the first two episodes brought out very clearly all of the hints and foreshadowing that I could only guess at when I first watched the broadcast. In particular, the emotions and reactions of the Oceanus team members now make sense, given what I have learned in watching up through episode 17. The episodes stood up to re-watching very well and in fact re-emphasized that Zegapain will be a series that will require a serious re-watching once it is finished in order to appreciate all of the details that have been put into the story line, characters and background.
