管弦楽組曲第4番の序曲と同じメロディで始まるBWV110のカンタータは、まさにクリスマスの喜びを表現したものであり、ここではさらに見事な合唱が組み込まれた感動的で輝きに満ちた世界が表現される。キリストの生誕=クリスマスこそ、苦しみも平安も含めた全ての始まりであるということが実感できる作品。第6曲のバスのアリアの輝かしさを経て、最後のコラールでしっとりと締めくくる名作。BWV169は三位一体後第18主日用のアルト・ソロカンタータ。この曲のシンフォニアは後にチェンバロ協奏曲第2番に転用されたメロディで、ここではオルガン協奏曲になっている。ルッツのソロも素晴らしい。BWV99は三位一体後第15主日用のカンタータ。冒頭から弦と管が絶妙に絡み、そこに合唱が加わるという何とも厳かで美しい音楽。最後のコラールがこれまた感動的。
