"Fullmetal Alchemist" Yami to Hikari no Yabo (Ambition of Darkness and Light)

The DVD release of the third stage production of "Fullmetal Alchemist" is now available. The original work is the representative masterpiece by Hiromu Arakawa, serialized in the monthly magazine "Shonen Gangan" from 2001 to 2010 and regarded as a historic classic in Japanese manga history. The stage adaptation was first performed in March 2023 to mark the twentieth anniversary of the serialization, followed by the sequel "Fullmetal Alchemist - Each Battlefield -" in June 2024, which drew widespread attention. In February 2026, the long-awaited third production is staged under the script and direction of Sachiko Ishimaru, bringing together creators and cast active across various entertainment genres. Edward Elric is once again portrayed by a double cast of Yohei Isshiki and Ryota Hirono. As a grand ambition enveloping the entire nation of Amestris is revealed, do not miss the Elric brothers' journey as it enters a new phase. In their childhood, Edward and his younger brother Alphonse attempt the forbidden act of human transmutation to revive their beloved deceased mother, but fail, resulting in Edward losing his left leg and right arm and Alphonse losing his entire body, with his soul bound to armor. While seeking the Philosopher's Stone to restore their bodies, they encounter the Homunculi operating in the shadows of Amestris and their manipulator known as Father. Saved in battle by their adversary Scar and Princess May Chang of Xing, a practitioner of alkahestry, the brothers discover new possibilities and head north with May, where they face a truth that will shake the nation at Briggs Fortress, ruled by Olivier Mira Armstrong. This three-disc set includes Disc 1 featuring the February 11 Tokyo performance with Ryota Hirono and Takuma Wada, Disc 2 featuring the February 14 Tokyo performance with Yohei Isshiki and Jin Aoki, Disc three containing bonus making-of footage from rehearsals and backstage areas, and a booklet.
