[Machine Translation] Mercadante contributed greatly to the development of Italian opera in the 19th century. Although he spent most of his life composing operas, during the six years between 1814 and 1820, he wrote numerous instrumental works, mostly for flute, inspired by his fellow conservatory students and his teacher.
