The shocking scene of Godzilla attacking Ginza in the movie "Godzilla-1.0"was so impressive that I wondered if I could express the power of the scene in Ukiyoe. The colors of the sky and the smoke are depicted in a way that has been used since the Edo period.

In addition, I painted as much detail as possible in order to express the stylish, fierce, and divine appearance of Godzilla in the movie.

This work is not a woodblock print, so I do not use carving and printing, but I always try to paint with the image of carving and printing in mind, so my work is mainly expressed using fewer colors.
Therefore, the greatest challenge was to depict the rugged surface of Gojira with a small number of colors.

This is a fan with an image of a sail, with "Kyo-Karakami", a traditional craftwork of Kyoto, pasted on three spread out bamboo bones.
When the fan is placed on a boat-shaped stand, it becomes an "Uchiwa decoration"like a treasure ship, swaying when touched.
