The Blu-ray of the film "Whoever Steals This Book," the masterpiece fantasy by Nowaki Fukamidori nominated for the Japan Booksellers' Award, is released! The director is Daiki Fukuoka, a skilled talent who has worked on "Radiant," "Phantom of the Idol," and others; character design and animation direction are by Keiko Kurosawa of "Astra Lost in Space" and "Scum's Wish"; the screenplay is by Yasuhiro Nakanishi of "Kaguya-sama: Love Is War" and "Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun"; and the music is by Michiru Oshima, winner of the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Music, who has worked on many masterpieces from live-action to anime! The up-and-coming production studio "Kagokan" (Kagome Company Inc.), founded by Yuji Higa, animation producer of "Assassination Classroom" and "Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun," delivers the story woven by Mifuyu and Mashiro! Rin Kataoka - who drew attention for her remarkable performance in the NHK serial TV novel "The Tiger and Her Wings" and who makes her film-lead and voice-acting debut here - plays Mifuyu Mikura, a book-hating girl who travels through cursed stories in pursuit of a book thief; and Sora Tamaki, also making her voice-acting debut, gives a passionate performance as Mashiro, the mysterious girl who lures Mifuyu into the world of books! - "I wish I had never read a book...!" Mifuyu Mikura, a high school student living in the book town of Yomunaga-cho. She is the daughter of a family that has managed the huge library "Mikura-kan," founded by her great-grandfather, for generations, but she herself did not like books. One day, when the books of the Mikura-kan are stolen, Yomunaga-cho is suddenly swallowed into the world of stories. It was a curse cast upon the books - a "Book Curse." The key to breaking the curse is within the story - to save the town, Mifuyu sets out on a journey to catch the book thief together with the mysterious girl Mashiro. Who is the thief really? And what is the secret of the "curse" and the "Mikura family" that even Mifuyu does not know...? A mystery-solving adventure fantasy in which two girls travel the "world of books" begins!
