Originally released in 1976 and regarded as one of KISS's signature works, the album saw the band reunite with legendary producer and engineer Eddie Kramer, known for his work on "Alive!" as well as recordings by Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. By recording the band's live performances inside an empty theater, they created a unique studio album with the immediacy and ambience of a live performance. The album reached No. 11 on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and was officially certified Platinum by the RIAA, while "Calling Dr. Love" and "Hard Luck Woman" both reached the Top 20 on the US singles chart. Returning to straightforward, honest, and uncompromising rock without unnecessary ornamentation, the album showcases KISS's outstanding songwriting and recording abilities and captures the band at one of its creative peaks. This release features the latest stereo mix of the album, newly remixed by Eddie Kramer from the original analog multitrack tapes.
