今、活動が途切れる日がない音楽家・山中惇史。その活動は多岐に渡り、作曲家/編曲家、そしてピアニストとして国内外の著名なアーティストから絶大な信頼を集めている。特に近年では、宮田大や上野耕平などトップ奏者との共演やソリストとしてオーケストラとの公演への出演、坂東祐大作曲の「報道ステーション」テーマ曲の演奏に抜擢されるなど、ピアニストとしての手腕・センスにも注目が集まっている。今作は、山中惇史のソロアルバムとしては初の全国リリース盤であり、ピアニストの王道である"ショパン"をテーマに、作曲家/ピアニスト両方の顔を持つ山中ならではの着眼点で構築したアルバム。ショパンが子ども時代に作曲した「ポロネーズ変イ長調」などの珍しい作品から、「幻想ポロネーズ」「舟歌」などショパンの晩年を代表する名曲まで、ショパンの人生を巡るように楽曲を紡ぎながら、山中自身がショパンに影響を受けて作曲した自作曲を効果的に織り交ぜてプログラミングされている。
