劇場版「るろうに剣心 新京都編 前編」がBlu-ray化!! 明治11年初夏。大久保卿暗殺の黒幕である志々雄真実が企む「京都破壊計画」を阻止する為に、京都御庭番衆の頭・翁は先代の遺児・巻町操に一つの任を与えた。かつて人斬り抜刀斎と呼ばれ明治維新を裏で支えた男、緋村剣心の探索である。操は東海道を登り、想い人・蒼紫の消息を知るかもしれないその男を見つける。剣心もまた翁と同じ目的の為、京都に向かっていた。想像していた恐ろしい抜刀斎像と実際とのギャップにとまどいながらも操は道中を共にし、ついに二人は新月村で志々雄と対峙することとなる。今の腐った政府を壊し、新しい世の中を創るために力が必要だと言う志々雄を、剣心は否定する。志々雄は一笑し、仲間の瀬田宗次朗に剣を握らせる。そして闘いの末、剣心は己の信念の象徴である逆刃刀を折られてしまう――。
