I just saw this at the Sydney Film Festival, where it slipped in quietly between the booming war documentaries and hard-edged adult dramas. Misunderstandings, not-so-tactful communications and funny little deceptions all stand in the way of Soyo and Osawa's halting, yet ever-blossoming, relationship. The gentle approach to the well-worn topics of first love, city vs. country folk and (of course) growing up make this film a worthy addition to the long list of coming-of-age films.

I loved the film, it had an almost magical feel about it, a love story based in rural Japan with its views of the beautiful mountainous country side and rice fields. It gave an insight into to what life is like for people living in rural Japan.
