Supernal Liberty [Regular Edition]

This album stunned me. I had not really listened to any of her other albums as of recently, but the styles changes were wonderful. I found myself replaying Guilty for hours when I first got it. Appassionato may make it seem like her voice was out of control, but you can tell she was really enjoying herself. The french in Antique Nachtmusik honestly surprised me, it was a lovely song to listen to. Fun Fun People is fun to sing along with (hahaha,) you can really tell through many songs in this album that she loves singing, and she does an amazing job of doing it. Fate almost made me cry the first time I heard it, it's a wonderful, slower song that is lovely again. Vitalization stunned me a bit, because i was not expecting the instrumentals that we got. It's a powerful song that I find myself coming back to listen to often. Those are some of my favorite songs from the album, and though I did not mention the other songs, I can assure you this is a high quality album worth the buy and listen.

...but this song can hardly be called a simple Jpop album. An extremely iconic Japanese seiyuu and trained enka singer, Nana can hardly stick to the general anison and Jpop themes, and this album is definitely no exception. As her 10th studio album, this took experimentation with different genres to the absolute extreme. You will get symphonic rock, then folk combined with heavy metal, then French mixed with James Bond music, then poppy jazz with heavy saxophone, then a ballad, then electronic rock, then piano jazz, then anison, then a harp ballad. Each and every single song has Nana's strong vocals that changes register from a seductive chest voice to a cutesy high voice that reaches no limit, assisted by her iconic and distinct vibrato. Each and every song also has these vocals slightly adjusted to fit the theme of the respective song. T his album is truly a masterpiece as Nana subtly tells her listeners that there are no limits that bound her to any specific genre and she has the power and will to try new things, and most importantly, make it work. Nana Mizuki is a pop artist that can sing. And she will show you all the different ways she can. Flawlessly. In this album. Why don't you have this album yet?

I haven't ever heard of Nana-Chan before, but I enjoyed this album very much. She had such a pleasant voice with which she can do everything she wants. And she does so well! We travel from dark-inspired tracks to totally crazy ones via nice slow tunes, all of them being magical. Last but not least, the packaging is very nice!
