Description

New concert DVD from Tokyo Jihen (Tokyo Incidents) features 22 songs (subject to change) recorded during their "Domestic!" tour on May 26 at Tokyo's NHK Hall. On a stage set you wouldn't imagine stocked with amplifiers, with quick constume changes and dance scenes, this release marks a unique performance oriented approach to Ringo Shiina and Tokyo Jihen (Tokyo Incidents)'s live set-up. Is it a concert? Is it a music video? Of course their are pure musical performances as well. Depending on the song, however, you may find yourself watching Ringo Shiina on stage one second, and the next wondering how did she get up there! Only the stage crew knows the truth! Almongst the 22 songs included in the set you'll find a performance of the unreleased new track "Mirrorball" and a cover of the song "C'm'on Let's Go" by the Happy Boys.

Mind Blowing 5

I first stumbled upon a clip of this concert on Youtube and immediately fell in love with Shiina and Tokyo Jihen all over again. The musicality of this group is outstanding. Unlike so many bands with idol singers every member gets their chance to shine throughout the show.

After many a failed attempt to introduce japanese music to my stuck up Music Major friends this DVD delivered and blew them away. The original song structure, Shiina's the gritty singing, and the huge range of emotions their music is capable of expressing puts them high on my list.

The only negative thing I can say is that I agree with Clem in that they do tend to be rather stationary in their performances. Even so, the complexity of the music makes it hard to jump around on stage so I can forgive that.

Great concert of the greatest band in Japan. A must have for people looking for Japanese real original music (in comparison with the average sweet smelling j-pop) !
Shiina Ringo sure is one of the best artists in Japan.

Awesome Concert 5

This concert is awsome. Sheena is a very good musician and with her different styles on stage this isn't a concert at all. It's more than that. It completly seems as a PV or a theatre play.

Interesting Experiment 3

I debated between 3 and 4 stars. The music is excellent and deserves a 4. But judging it as a concert video, this DVD falls short.

Perhaps my expectations were too high after their nearly flawless Dynamite Out concert film (although, technically this DVD is from Tokyo Jihen, Phase 2 - two members have changed).

First, there is almost no interaction among the band members. They simply stand in their designated spot and play their instruments. The result: even great, upbeat songs seem to lack energy and involvement. The fun is all but gone.

Next, there are a lot of camera editing and visual FX added plus frequent cuts to recorded, music video-like segments in the middle of the live performance. While all of this is an interesting experiment and unique in an artistic way, it ultimately takes the viewer out of the live experience. I want to see a live performance that showcases the talent of the band, not the magic of post production. I want to experience the energy of being there.

Still, the music is undeniably great. I would recommend this for fans of Tokyo Jihen and to those interested in the concert-music video hyrbid experiment.

Dvd is all about. Dvd includes a new
re-arranged cover of Brenda Lees * Dynamite*
and lots of other fantastic songs perfomed by Ringo-chan and her group. Great visual effects and great musical perfomance from the queen of japanese music.You never ever seen anything, like this in a live show. So try it out, It's worth it.

There are 6 region codes. Typically, DVD players sold in one region is compatible only with DVD titles that are encoded for that region.

Blu-ray

Blu-ray titles are playable only on Blu-ray players. They are not playable on conventional DVD players or HD DVD players. There are 3 region codes for Blu-rays as listed below, which are different from DVD region codes.

DVD-Audio

DVD-Audios are playable only on DVD-Audio players and DVD players that are compatible with DVD-Audios (to find out for sure, consult the manual of your DVD player, or look for DVD-Audio logo). DVD-Audios are not playable on regular DVD players or CD players.

SACD (Super Audio CD)

SACDs are playable only on SACD players, and will not play on regular CD players. On the other hand, SACD Hybrid disc has a layer that is playable also on regular CD payers. Such titles are indicated as "Format: SACD-Hybrid" in item details page.

While this icon is displayed, dimensional weight applies to cover the extra postage required for sending the first press bonus poster for free.

CDJapan does not charge anything extra for first press bonus posters themselves, but sending them requires larger packaging materials causing the package weight to increase, especially as FedEx applies dimensional weight.
