DRAGONBIRD SYMPHONY - PROLOGUE

The guitarist and composer of melodic death metal band RYUJIN, Ryoji Shinomoto, releases a solo album presenting classical works arranged in metal style. This full album serves as the prologue to his classical metal project, ambitiously reinterpreting famous classical pieces centered on his self-made 33-fret electric guitar. It is positioned as a "prologue" because he plans to re-record the tracks after completing the 36-fret guitar "Dragonbird" currently in production, and it is created as a touchstone for that vision. Using representative works by composers such as Vivaldi, Beethoven, Liszt, Paganini, Chopin, and Mozart as themes, the pieces are reconstructed by fusing metal and symphonic elements while respecting the structure and emotional expression of the originals. With the participation of Wataru Mukai, principal cellist of the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, the interplay of guitar and cello melodies becomes a major feature of the work, achieving musical depth beyond a mere display of guitar technique. Emphasis is placed not only on distortion-driven expression but also on delicate nuances through volume control and picking, resulting in a work that appeals to both classical and metal fans.

メロディック・デス・メタル・バンド、RYUJINのギタリスト/コンポーザー、Ryoji Shinomotoクラシック楽曲をメタル・アレンジで聴かせるソロアルバム発売決定! 本作は、篠本竜司によるクラシック・メタル・プロジェクトの序章となるフルアルバムであり、自作の33フレット・エレクトリック・ギターを主軸に、クラシックの名曲を再解釈した意欲作である。本作が「プロローグ」と位置づけられているのは、現在制作中の36フレット・ギター＜Dragonbird＞の完成後、本作収録曲の再録を構想しているためであり、その試金石として制作された作品でもある。ヴィヴァルディ、ベートーヴェン、リスト、パガニーニ、ショパン、モーツァルトといった作曲家の代表作を題材に、原曲の構造や感情表現を尊重しながら、メタルおよびシンフォニックな要素を融合して再構築。関西フィルハーモニー管弦楽団首席チェリスト・向井航の参加により、ギターとチェロが旋律を交錯させるアンサンブルが本作の大きな特徴となっており、単なるギター技巧作品に留まらない音楽的奥行きを獲得している。歪み一辺倒の表現ではなく、ボリューム・コントロールやピッキング・ニュアンスによる繊細な表現も重視されており、クラシック・ファン、メタル・ファン双方に訴求する作品となっている。
