北米ではプログレッシブ・ロックの先駆的存在として知られ、日本でも根強い人気を誇るカナダ出身のパワー・トリオ、ラッシュが1982年にリリースした通算9作目のアルバムの発売40周年記念盤。全米で大ヒットした前作『ムーヴィング・ピクチャーズ』で世界的に人気を爆発させた彼らのベストセラーとして知られるアルバムで、全米チャートでは最高10位を記録。海外では40周年記念のボックス・セットのみの発売だが、そのなかに収められた、今回が初CD化となるアビイ・ロード・マスタリング・スタジオで2015年にリマスターされたオリジナル・アルバムを日本のみSHM-CD仕様で単独発売。大胆なシンセサイザー主導のリードオフ・トラックである「サブディヴィジョンズ」は、ラジオ・フレンドリーな北米のFMで最も愛されるラッシュのお気に入りの1曲となり、彼らのコンサートの定番曲としても知られる作品。また、「失われた夢」は、2015年のラッシュの最後のツアー"R40ライヴ・ツアー"までステージで演奏されることがなかった、ヴァイオリンをフィーチャーした名曲。アルバムは、1981年のスペース・シャトル「コロンビア号」の打ち上げにインスパイアされた「カウントダウン」でドラマティックに締めくくられている。日本独自企画盤。
