Thompson, a rock star in the world of journalism. In 1960, journalist Paul Kemp landed in San Juan, Puerto Rico, South America. Tired of the hustle and bustle of New York City, he had come to the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico to write an article for the San Juan Star, the local newspaper run by the oversensitive editor Rotterman. Surrounded by fellow journalists from the same newspaper, Kemp quickly adjusts to life on the island, drinking rum and drinking heavily, until one day he meets Sanderson, an American entrepreneur. A chance encounter with Chennault, his fiancee, leads to his infatuation with her exceptional beauty and charm, and he soon finds himself caught up in Sanderson's scheming. Will Kemp, as a journalist, be able to uncover the truth about the corruption and greed that surrounds him?
