The "I" fantasies that unfolded in "Renoir," a place with a Showa, Ginza-like atmosphere, were filled with surreal and off-putting laughter, and became a cult favorite among people in their 20s and 30s, as well as celebrities such as Suzuki Matsuo, Haruo Chikada, and Seiko Ito, who gave high praise to the book. In 2007, the director, Hitoshi Oneda, who was a big fan of the book, brought in the project himself, saying, "I would definitely like to make a film version of this book," and a miraculous drama version was realized. With the deep understanding and cooperation of Ginza Lenoir, the film was shot entirely on location at the Renoir Tabata store, which is still in operation. The drama version of "Last Year at Renoir" starring Gen Hoshino, the leader of the band SAKEROCK and also an active actor, with a gorgeous cast, is an unprecedented "fantasy entertainment drama" thanks to the synergy of Sekishiro meets Hitoshi Oneda.
