世の中で唯一の苗字"ペンギン"夫婦が生まれたとっておきの物語。流行語にもなった大ヒット商品「食べるラー油」の原点である"辺銀食堂の石垣島ラー油"を生み出したのは、自由に楽しく生きる南の島のペンギン夫婦と二人を取り巻く＜優しい＞気持ちの数々。食べるラー油の誕生秘話を2011年第85回キネマ旬報ベスト・テン助演女優賞の小池栄子と台湾の人気女優ワン・チュアンイーが演じる。――フリーライターとして東京で働いていた歩美(小池栄子)は、中国で出会ったカメラマン(ワン・チュアンイー)と国際結婚。しかしその後、夫の会社が倒産し職を失ってしまう。歩美は落ち込む夫を気晴らしに石垣島へ連れて行き、そこで出会った大自然、温かい心、そして美味い食材にすっかり二人は魅了され、移住することに! 職のアテも無い二人は共通の趣味である"食"を活かし、石垣島の食材を使った全く新しいラー油を作ろうと思い立つ。苦労しながらも気持ちを込めて作ったラー油。しかし1つも売れない。それでも前向きな二人に新たなチャンスが舞い込んだ。国際結婚、離島への移住、帰化申請。これは食べるラー油誕生の裏に隠されたとってもあったかい絆の物語。
