Description

45th Anniversary of The Rainbow Goblins. "RAINBOW GOBLINS STORY LIVE at Budokan 1981 ~The Rainbow Goblins~ Special Edition." Revealing the full story of Masayoshi Takanaka's legendary concert "RAINBOW GOBLINS STORY"! This release captures the legendary two-day concert "RAINBOW GOBLINS STORY," held at Nippon Budokan on March 10, 1981 - the release date of Masayoshi Takanaka's iconic album "The Rainbow Goblins" - and the following day, March 11. Inspired by Italian artist Ul de Rico's picture book "The Rainbow Goblins" (Japanese title: Nijidensetsu), Takanaka created the concept album "The Rainbow Goblins," and the concert featured two parts: Part 1, in which the album was recreated on stage, and Part 2, composed of Masayoshi Takanaka's hit songs. Now, for the first time, this legendary performance is being released as a single audio work. A massive rainbow neon sign hung above the stage, its seven-color lights flashing in various patterns to the music, while state-of-the-art laser light shows of the era, combined with equipment stacked like a mountain range on stage, created a dreamlike world. The seven musicians who took the stage each wore costumes in the image colors of different goblins, while Takanaka, dressed in a yellow jumpsuit with his hair dyed in rainbow colors, played his rainbow metallic YAMAHA SG guitar. The world of "The Rainbow Goblins" as performed by Masayoshi Takanaka, already at the peak of his popularity as Japan's foremost guitarist, now comes back to life on the 45th anniversary with vivid, true-to-life sound. The analog edition comes in 3 LPs - Clear Lime Yellow, Clear Red, and Clear Blue - colors representing the three primary colors, evoking the rainbow-colored YAMAHA SG that Takanaka played during Part 1. Delivered with a photo-filled booklet capturing the dreamlike stage produced with the most advanced technology of the era. Mastering and analog cutting: Alex Wharton (Abbey Road Studios, London). Liner notes: Masayoshi Kondo (music writer), Yoshinobu Maruyama (Kitty Artists, Masayoshi Takanaka's manager at the time).
