The Platinum disks I have bought so far have been quite varied in delivering listening enjoyment. So it was with some trepidation that I pressed the button on this album. I have had it on record, regular remaster, Mobile Fidelity CD and SHM-CD versions so I have a bit of history with this brilliant release. When I first set it loose my heart dropped a touch because the volume was a little low. However once I gave the volume a lift the disk came alive and it breathed with life I had not heard since 1969 when I first put the record on the turntable. The drums sound like the old wooden Ludwigs again and the voices were very life-like. The tonal balance was just fantastic and clearly the remaster and the Platinum format of this release is working just fine and sounds the best of any version I have ever had. I was so impressed that I bought "Music From Big Pink" and it was jaw-dropping in how it sounded to my ears. Best ever version again and gave me a fresh image of that wonderful 1968 record. Well done CD Japan these are fantastic!!
