Something True [SHM-CD]

Musician Miu Sakamoto, who celebrates the 30th anniversary of her debut in 2027, releases her first full album in approximately five years since "birds fly" (2021), a luxurious work produced with the participation of Naotaro Moriyama, Goro Ito, and Marihiko Hara. The songs produced by Naotaro Moriyama mainly consist of numbers written and composed by Moriyama himself, and he also participates in the chorus on one track. The songs produced by Goro Ito include original songs as well as a cover of Virginia Astley's 1986 hit song "Some Small Hope" (produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto). The songs produced by Marihiko Hara, who also teamed up with her for the theme song of the blockbuster film "Kokuho," include the theme song "Lullaby" for the anime film "If I Were Born Anew" directed by Asuka Tsuchiumi, and a number set to the poem "If I must die" by Gaza university professor and poet Refaat Alareer, who was killed in Israeli airstrikes. Closing the album is a cover of "Seiyakyoku," produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto for Chitose Hajime's 2008 album "Cassini." A duet transcending time is realized with the piano track performed by Ryuichi Sakamoto during the original recording. In recent years, Sakamoto has also devoted efforts to humanitarian aid for the Palestinian territories, which have suffered enormous damage from the long-standing occupation and massacres by the Israeli military. The album title "Something True" expresses the desire to somehow reach at least one unwavering "truth" while feeling one's way through a world where what had been believed to be true until now has begun to waver.

2027年にデビュー30周年を迎える、ミュージシャンの坂本美雨。『birds fly』 (2021年)以来、約5年ぶりのフル・アルバムは、森山直太朗、伊藤ゴロー、原摩利彦がプロデュースで参加した豪華作品。森山直太朗プロデュース曲は、森山の作詞・作曲のナンバーをメインに、うち1曲ではコーラスでも参加。伊藤ゴローのプロデュース曲は、オリジナル曲に加えてヴァージニア・アストレイの1986年のヒット曲「Some Small Hope」 (produced by 坂本龍一)をカバー。大ヒット映画『国宝』の主題歌でもタッグを組んだ原摩利彦によるプロデュース曲は、アニメ映画『もし、これから生まれるのなら』(監督: 土海明日香)の主題歌「Lullaby」や、イスラエルの空爆で殺害されたガザの大学教授・詩人リフアト・アルアライールの詩「If I must die」にメロディを付けたナンバーなどを収録。アルバムのラストを飾るのは、坂本龍一が元ちとせの2008年発表のアルバム『カッシーニ』でプロデュースした「静夜曲」のカバー。当時のレコーディングで坂本龍一が演奏したピアノ・トラックと、時を超えたデュオが実現した。坂本は近年、イスラエル軍の長年の占領と虐殺により、甚大な被害を受けているパレスチナ自治区の人道支援にも力を注いでいる。今回のアルバム・タイトル『Something True』には、《これまで真実だと思っていたものが揺らいでしまった世界で、手探りしながら、何かひとつでも揺らがぬ "ほんとう" のものにたどり着きたい》という想いが込められている。
