This recording deals with Schumann's symphonies, but in a version arranged by Mahler. Although Chailly himself has recorded Schumann's symphonies with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the past, this new recording uses Mahler's version, which shows the clear-headedness of Chailly's skill. Recorded in 2006.

2005年9月より名門ゲヴァントハウス管弦楽団のカペルマイスターに就任したシャイーの新録音。今作はシューマンの交響曲を取り扱っているが、マーラーが編曲した版を使用した録音。シャイー自身は過去ロイヤル・コンセルトヘボウ管弦楽団とシューマンの交響曲は録音しているが、この新盤ではマーラー編を使用しており、頭脳明晰なシャイーならではの手腕が光る。 2006年録音。
