Description

Directed by Tom Holland ("Psycho II" "Child's Play"), Fright night is a vampire horror/comedy classic. In spite of its relatively low budget origin, the film features terrific special effects by FX wizard, Richard Edlund. It stars Chris Sarandon ("Dog Day Afternoon") as the charismatic vampire, and Roddy McDowall (of "Planet of the Apes" fame) as the lovable near-out-of-work actor named Peter Vincent, who reluctantly helps our young heroes (William Ragsdaleand Amanda Bearse) battle the evil vampire who moved in next door. McDowall steals every scene he's in, and his character is obviously named after the late great Peter Cushing and Vincent Price.
