Description

Ben Kingsley IS Gandhi in this 3-hour epic directed by Richard Attenborough! Though Kingsley has done many other interesting works since then and delivered other outstanding performances throughout the years - including many comical and villainous turns which he intentionally took on to shed his "Gandhi" image - most people still associate him with this movie made nearly 20 years ago. Not only it's an important story to tell about India's history, it's a story about one great man who nearly succeeded in taking the consciousness level of the human race up a notch. The fact that we're all as gloriously stupid as ever is not at all his fault (or Martin Luther King's for that matter). In addition to eight Academy Awards, this film won many other awards on both sides of the Atlantic.
