鹿児島出身、都内と地元鹿児島を拠点に活動するR&Bシンガー鳥淵杏奈。2014年にリリースした『Retrace』シリーズ第二弾となる本作は、タイトルの通りこれまでの道をもう一度辿り直し、振り返りながら1曲1曲作り上げた作品。サウンドプロデュースには現在ニューヨークを拠点に活動するジャズピアニスト泉川貴弘が手掛けた。これまで発表されたシングル楽曲や岩井ジョニ男 (イワイガワ)が主演したMVが話題となった「1,2,step」、自身初のクリスマスソング「Silent night」に加え、書き下ろしの新曲4曲を収録。新曲「knife」は愛情表現や、その形や価値観など、複雑ではあるがわかり合い、ときにすれ違う人間模様を描いた楽曲。MVではTWICEのジャパンツアーのダンスリーダーなどの実績をもつダンサーNANAが出演し、和紙や墨汁を使用した現代アート的な視点からも楽しめる作品に仕上がった。
