CORE OF SOUL was one of the most talented and promising music groups I've had the pleasure to hear. Fukko's vocals are sweetly feminine and absolutely breathtaking, and her lyrics are quite thoughtful, mixing in just the right amount of the romantic, heartbreaking, and uplifting. CORE OF SOUL's arrangements are generally 'happy rock,' and Song Rui (who is originally from China) makes some unique and pleasantly surprising contributions to CORE OF SOUL'S music with the occasional erhu and Chinese lyrics, as in 'Purple Sky' and 'Sweet Dreams.' This release, the one and only BEST album that came from CORE OF SOUL, is a fantastic album. The tracks range from their first single to their last, and includes some tracks that are not on any of their albums (including 'Angel' and 'In Your Arms') as well as exclusive tracks found only in the limited release (the accoustic versions of 'Yumenori RIDERS', 'Purple Sky,' etc.). Each song is quite beautiful and different from the others. Sadly, CORE OF SOUL announced their dissolvement early in 2006, so this is one of their very last and very best releases. Get it while you can; this album is a keeper.
