A.Jackson is probably correct on this one. Fans of Zeno Roth usually like his music because of his tendency towards Eastern influenced progressions, coupled with high pitched vocals and melodic choruses. This record sees him moving in a more blues rock direction. The album is still very listenable, but is quite a change in direction. While I am all for artists avoiding stagnation in the pursuit of artistic exploration, I for one, prefer the Zeno of old.

Customer Reviews
After a long 8 year break, Zeno is back with a new album 'Runway To The Gods'. Being a huge Zeno fan, I was highly anticipating this release, enjoying all the previous ones so much. A lot has changed in the world of Zeno, first of all there is a new vocalist - Michael Bormann; and the production & style of the songs has changed too. Does the new vocalist compare to previous singers Michael Flexig & Tommy Heart? In one word - NO! The new singer really spoils this album, and makes it a little hard to listen to, he can sing of course, but he just really does not suit this type of music at all. The songs are not as strong as previous releases either, and are marred by production that is a little rough. But it has its momments 'Do You Feel The Time' is quite good, even with average vocals from Zeno himself (sounding very much like Uli Jon Roth), 'Shades of Blue' nice acoustic intro. The Instrumentals are quite dull affairs , and pretty pointless to include. After such a long wait, this is a rather disappointing album, the weakest of Zeno's studio albums to date. Quite why Zeno chose a singer like Michael Bormann to sing on this is a mystery, he ruins it!
