TZORTZIS: Les Mysteres

アテネで生まれ、現在パリを拠点に活躍する作曲家ニコラス・ツォルティスの作品集。2008年に開催された国際作曲コンクールの全てで優勝したという逸材で、現在では主に劇音楽や映像の分野で作品を発表している。このアルバムに収録された作品のうち「Les mysteres du chateau du De」と「.L'etoile de mer」はマン・レイのモノクロ無声映画からインスパイアされた曲。「What the wave meant」はレッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズの"Can't Stop"に由来し、「... de ce qui est en lutte」は古代ギリシャのヘラクレイトスの格言がもとになっている。どの曲もフランスのシュルレアリスム (超現実主義)と伝統的なポリフォニーの融合を目指して生まれたもので、もともとは4作ばらばらに構想されたが、演奏家であるダス・ノイエ・アンサンブルが4曲からなる組曲として設定、コンサートなどで演奏していることから、今回のアルバムでもその方法が採用された。各々の楽器の音が溶け合い、不思議な音響を創り上げている。
