Mr. Giants Shori no Hata

[Machine Translation] [Toho DVD Masterpiece Selection] Shigeo Nagashima, one of the most popular heroes of the Showa era, plays himself in this moving drama written by his passionate fans. It is the 1960s, in the middle of Japan's period of rapid economic growth. In the 1962 season, the team was in the doldrums and Nagashima, who himself had not won a batting title since joining the team, was training in the mountains of Hakone, hoping to revive his career. In the 1963 season, the Giants continued to win, and Nagashima's batting was brilliant as he pushed on to win the Triple Crown. However, Nagashima was struck by bad luck, including the sudden accidental death of a boy fan who was rooting for him and his absence due to a dead ball injury towards the end of the season. What is the fate of Nagashima, who trusts in his batting ability and continues to push for victory? In this film, Nagashima himself plays himself, looking back on his glorious season through the eyes of his passionate fans all over Japan and the people who warmly watched over him. An emotional drama woven with fiction and live action! Shigeo Nagashima in his prime, star players of the Giants, and Toho's splendid cast of actors all appear in the film! The film features a star-studded cast of Giants players from that era, including Sadaharu Oh, the World Home Run King, and Tetsuji Kawakami, the V9 manager. Frankie Sakai plays the team staff member who watches over Nagashima, and Junzaburo Ban plays an enthusiastic fan. Many other actresses, including Chikage Awashima, Sadako Sawamura, Mayumi Ozora, and many others, also contribute to this moving drama.
