The original work is the popular manga of the same name by Wakana Yanai, which gained great popularity in Bessatsu Margaret. Haruka Fukunaga (Mahoka Osaki), who moves to Tokyo from the countryside dreaming of a stylish college life, finds herself living a reality completely opposite from the glittering urban life she imagined. Working part-time at an izakaya, Haruka goes bare-faced with a headscarf and apron, and even attends university without makeup, her hair still messy from sleep. One day, due to her own carelessness, Haruka meets the stunningly beautiful Hikaru Kamiyama (Leo Matsumoto) and is instantly captivated by Hikaru's overwhelming beauty. During a break at work, Haruka is invited to a drinking party by her secretly admired senior, Keisuke Kurotaki (Rintaro Hachimura). Although she declines because she is underage, when she answers that her twentieth birthday is next Tuesday, Kurotaki invites her out for drinks. Thrilled by the promise, Haruka eagerly awaits her birthday. On the day itself, she rushes to buy cosmetics in hopes of becoming even a little cuter for Kurotaki, but unsure of what to choose, she happens to spot Hikaru and desperately reaches out for help.
