Kozue Ogawa (Makiko Esumi) is a homemaker in her seventh year of marriage to Hideo (Toshiro Yanagiba). Although they have no children yet, she lives a lively life surrounded by her parents (Yumi Shirakawa and Ryo Tayama), who run a flower shop, and her sister Yukie (Tae Kimura), who is currently in divorce mediation, along with Yukie's daughters (Yumi Endo and others). Kozue has no complaints about her current life or her loving husband. Yet at times, a question with no clear addressee crosses her mind: "Is this all my life will ever be, simply aging as a wife, a homemaker, and eventually a mother?" Kozue begins working part-time at the editorial department of the magazine where she once worked. Her former colleague Kazumi Yoshizawa (Mari Hamada), whom she meets again after a long time, is now thriving as the chief editor. One rainy day, Kozue drops some important manuscripts, scattering them across the sidewalk. A young man, Takuma Fukazawa (Tomohisa Yamashita), comes to her aid and takes her to a dance studio, where the two dry the soaked pages together. Takuma appears to be an ordinary high school student, yet he carries a certain shadow and tells her that he teaches social dance at the studio. In the empty classroom, Takuma suddenly slips his arms around Kozue and begins to guide her through dance steps. Startled by the unexpected closeness, Kozue becomes flustered and storms out, irritated by his teasing attitude. However, her reunion with Takuma is not far away.
