世界中に多大なる影響を与えた黒澤明監督の傑作『七人の侍』の原作を元に制作されたアニメ『SAMURAI 7』が、大人気若手俳優・三浦翔平の初主演・初舞台で装いも新たによにがえる!! DVD化!! ――はるか未来、地球と呼ばれていたかもしれないある惑星。全身を機械化したサムライ達の大戦は終り、人々は再び田を耕し、生きていくにはこまらない程度の米を生産できるようになった、そんな時代。カンナ村は大戦時の痛手から立ち直り、米の収穫に恵まれていたが、村人たちは、毎年やってくる黒い脅威「野伏(のぶ)せり」(かつて戦場を彩っていた、機械化されたサムライ達のなれの果て)の襲撃と蹂躙をしかたなく受け入れる以外、生きるすべをもたなかった。収穫期を前に稲穂の実りを視察にきた野伏せりに対して、カンナ村の長であるギサクは野伏せりに対抗できる唯一の存在・サムライを雇い入れることを決断する。報酬は腹一杯の米。かくして血気盛んな若者リキチと、水分(みくまり)の巫女のキララとコマチ姉妹が村の代表として、砂漠の向こうにある街・虹雅渓(こうがきょう)に向かう事となる。紆余曲折を経て集まった個性豊かな七人のサムライーカツシロウ、キュウゾウ、シチロージ、ヘイハチ、ゴロベエ、キクチヨ、カンベエ。知行や恩賞には全く縁のない戦いを、哀れな農民達のため命を懸けて剣を振るう!!
