The film also featured Rene Russo as Julie, Alex's lover, and Anthony Hopkins as McCandless, the owner of a large company that deals in freejacks. The film is based on the 1958 science fiction novel "The Immortal Sales Corporation" by Robert Sheckley, a science fiction author. Directed by Joff Murphy of "Young Gun 2" (1990), produced and written by Ronald Shusett of "Total Recall" (1990), with music by Trevor Jones of "Angel Heart" (1987). --The film is set in the future, where up-and-coming F1 racer Alex Furlong is forced to travel 18 years into the future after an accident during a race in which he is thought to have died. In this future world, some rich people transplant their own psyche into young and fresh bodies to extend their lifespan. However, when the vehicle carrying Alex is attacked by resistance fighters, he escapes and finds Julie, his former lover.
