The US nuclear submarine Sawfish, commanded by Captain Towers, escapes and arrives in Melbourne, Australia. The submarine is manned by Moira, a young naval officer, Peter, and Osborn, a car-loving atomic scientist, who met at a party and were ordered to scout the northern hemisphere aboard the Sawfish.
