Pip is attracted to the haughty but beautiful Estella and hopes to become a gentleman worthy of her, but he soon finds himself working as a blacksmith for his brother-in-law. A few years later, Pip suddenly receives word that he has been named heir to a vast fortune. In order to become a gentleman, Pip bids farewell to the people of his hometown and sets off for London. What awaits him as he enjoys a dreamlike life that is a complete change from his life in the countryside?
