2011年10月にリリースしたファースト・アルバム『northern birds』が、話題となっている京都のミュージシャン/ギタリスト、polar M 渾身のセカンド・アルバム。ギターを中心に奏でられる情感溢れるメロディーと、深いアンビエンス、卓越した編集センスで静かな夜に沈みこんでいくようなサウンドスケープを描き出している。これまでのアルバムに比べてアンビエントな要素が強く、全編を通してイメージが統一されたトータルアルバムとしての趣がある。タイトル曲の「the night comes down」はMille-Plateaux のコンピレーション・アルバム『clicks & cuts』にも参加したユニットrimacona の柳本奈都子氏がヴォーカルで参加。これまでインストゥルメンタルのみだったpolar M 初の歌ものとなっている。アートワークはイラストレータでもある本人によるもの。プラスティックトレイジュエルの多面ジャケット仕様。自由なジャケットに出来るギミックを採用。固定フォーマットを採用しシリーズ化、コレクションする楽しみも。マスタリングは、シュラインドットジェーピーのスタジオにて、imagined records、涼音堂茶舗、ピクセルジャンク、デスカンソ等のマスタリングをつとめる糸魚健一が担当。低S/N 比を求められる現代マスタリングを実現している。
