Since emerging in 2002, The Mars Volta have earned a devoted following with their uncategorizable, wildly eccentric, and ephemeral musical style. After once disbanding in 2013, they made their long-awaited reunion in 2022. This album, their first release after moving to InsideOutMusic under Sony Music, is their first live album since 2005's "Scabdates." It features audio from last fall's U.S. tour in support of their studio album "Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacio," released last year but not issued in Japan. What they performed on that tour was not simply a live recreation of the new songs, but completely reconstructed versions that boldly reinterpreted the original tracks from the studio album, transforming them into the unpredictable and thrilling sound that only a true live band like The Mars Volta can deliver. The song selection process was also highly unique: numerous live recordings from the tour were made available to the public on a special website, and the live takes included on the album were decided by fan voting, an unprecedented approach.
