Blu-spec CD (TM)で聴くマイルスの至芸。 アルバム「E.S.P.」に続く2ndクインテットのスタジオ作品2作目であり、傑作との呼び声の高い作品。「E.S.P.」リリース直後から、股関節炎で悩まされていたマイルスは1965年2～10月を活動休止とし、回復後プラグド・ニッケルやヴィレッジ・ヴァンガードなどのライヴギグを経て、万全の状態で望んだスタジオ録音。アルバム収録曲以外に完奏が存在しないという、完璧に近いレベルの完成度を誇る作品 (録音: 1966年 NYC)。 '00年デジタルリマスター。
