シューベルトの最後の交響曲とされる大作「ザ・グレイト」と、セル晩年の67年の録音である「ロザムンデ」。厳格な古典主義者セルによって磨き上げられた演奏が光る1枚。「ザ・グレイト」は、死の直前に録られた再録音もあるが、このコンビが絶頂期にあった50年代終わりの録音は、きびきびとしたテンポ、引き締まった造形美でシューベルト渾身の名作交響曲の代表的な録音。Blu-spec CD(TM)によって、さらに素晴らしいサウンドになっている。録音: 1957年、1967年
