Japanese original release in SACD format. Compiles recordings of "Bruckner: The Complete Symphonies" by Christian Thielemann, one of the world's most popular masters of German music, and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Starting with Bruckner No. 2 in 2019 and ending with Bruckner No. 9 in 2022, a total of 11 works including F minor and No. 0 were recorded at the Musikverein in Vienna and the Salzburg Festival (No. 3, No. 1, F minor, and No. 0 were performed without audience participation under corona). Five of the eleven pieces are being released for the first time. The F minor and No. 0 are the first performances by the Vienna Philharmonic, and No. 1 is based on a late Viennese manuscript. Worth getting the SACD version 5

This new cycle very easily has become one of my Bruckner favorites. Although Thielemann's Bruckner reading may not be the most exciting, he undoubtfully gets the most beautiful and heartwarming playing from the Vienna Philharmonics. On top of that, the recorded sound is just sublime. Even if the recordings were made in PCM 24/96, it's worth getting this SACD version in my opinion if you have a decent SACD player. - I've compared the hires PCM 24/96 download against this SACD on a Marantz SA-10: to my ears the SACD sounds a bit more impressive.
