Rhythm & Blue Beat

[Machine Translation] ARTS, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2011, decided to go back to the basics and create an album focusing on the basics of rock music, namely the three-chord numbers and simple rock 'n' roll (ska) that they loved in the past. The songs on this album are all from the original album. ARTS decided to call the three-chord ska "Rhythm & Blue Beat" as opposed to "Rhythm & Blues". Recording took over a year from pre-production to completion. The album contains a record number of 15 songs (only one is a remix), the largest number ever recorded. Of these, 9 are songs and 6 are instrumental numbers. Although simple, the album is a masterpiece that is a true "ska exposition," with everything from authentic ska to neo-ska, pop songs to instrumental killer tunes, all in the ARTS style.

2011年で結成20周年を迎えるARTSは通算5枚目となるオリジナル・アルバムを制作するにあたって、まず初心に帰り、自分たちがかつて好きだったスリー・コード・ナンバー、いわゆるシンプルなロックンロール (スカ)というロックの基本中の基本を意識したアルバムを作ろうとコンセプトを決める。このアルバムに収録されている楽曲はすべてシンプルなコード進行によるわかりやすいナンバー。ARTSはスリー・コード・スカを「リズム＆ブルース」ならぬ「リズム＆ブルー・ビート」と呼ぶことにした。レコーディング期間はプリプロから完成まで1年以上を要した。収録楽曲数は過去最多の15曲(1曲のみリミックス)。うち歌モノ9曲、インスト・ナンバー6曲。シンプルとはいえ、王道のオーセンティック・スカ～ネオスカ、ポップな歌モノからインスト・キラー・チューンまでまさに「スカ博覧会」的なARTS節健在の最高傑作に仕上がった。
