Cupid & Psyche 85 (Remastered Deluxe Edition)

The peak of 80s pop. Scritti Politti's masterpiece "Cupid & Psyche 85", the album that brought the band international recognition, is revived as a new deluxe edition. In addition to the version long loved by fans, this definitive edition includes rare tracks carefully selected from the archives. While boldly embracing the maximalism of 1980s pop, the album was also influenced by the production sensibility, attitude, and vocal delivery of the hip-hop scene, which was still in its early days at the time. Through that free and open sensibility, those elements were transformed into a one-of-a-kind Scritti Politti style. The 1985 CD version also symbolized that approach. The band actively incorporated the cutting-edge technology of the time and, with a sensibility shared with rap artists, created additional mixes and alternate versions. The Japan edition CD includes commentary, translated lyrics, bonus tracks, and self-penned liner notes by Green Gartside and David Gamson. "Perfect Way - Version", included as track 14 of the main program, was remastered for this release by Chris Athens. In addition to the deluxe contents, the Japan edition CD also includes the original version of "Perfect Way - Version" included on the 2022 reissue.
