SURFACEデビューから15年、ソロになって3年の新たな挑戦。世の中、セルフカバーベストアルバムは数多くあるが、デビューアルバムを曲順そのままにセルフカバーするというのはあまり聞いた事がないのではないか? オリコン初登場2位を記録したヒットアルバム「Phase」。当時は若さを特権に大先輩のアドバイスにも支えられ、無我夢中に作った12曲。しかし今作は15年間唄い続けて来たシンガーの経験から生まれたサウンドに変貌を遂げている。通常なら聴き心地の良い、大人のサウンドを想定するかも知れないが、一言で云うなら、よりダイナミックなサウンドに仕上がった。色褪せない歌詞・メロディー、パワーアップしたヴォーカルがこの音を呼び寄せた。勿論リスナーには聴き比べされ、賛否両論の答えが返ってくるのは承知の上。あえてこの企画に挑戦するのはなぜ? 15周年を迎えた椎名慶治が今年掲げたテーマは「VERSUS TRIBAL」音楽の世界で言えばミュージシャンは部族、種族、トライバル。そんな部族、種族と向き合って戦っていこう! と。今まで音だけで勝負をし、あまり他を気にした事のなかった本人が大人なフリ、大人しいのは「つまらん、ちょっとやんちゃになろう!」って事でヴァ―サストライバル、他のアーティストに「負けねぇ!!」っていう抱負を掲げた。敵を知るにはまず自分を知る。そのために自身のデビューアルバムを見つめ直す。この行動が攻めの姿勢そのものなのである。 まだ中間地点でもある15年。さらに攻めまくる今後の椎名慶治に期待してほしい。全12曲収録。
