光りと影のコントラストを強調したシャープな映像により、独自の世界を有する工藤栄一が監督した傑作ハードボイルド。主演は「青春の殺人者」の水谷豊。甲斐智枝美のヌード映像もまぶしい。 トラック運転手・永井幸二は、同郷の友人・沼田に殺人の共犯の罪を負わされてしまう。彼は犯行時間のアリバイを証言するため一緒にいた牧子の名前を上げるが、母に知られたくない彼女はそれを否定してしまう。牧子の偽証を見破った警察によって幸二の疑いは晴れるが、皮肉にもその日、幸二は牧子につきまとっていたヤクザの渡辺を勢いで殺してしまう。幸二の中の何かが狂ってしまった。第二、第三の殺人を犯した彼は、見寄りのない少年・宏を連れて、逃れの街を求めて灰色の街を後にする・・・。 オリジナル・ネガからローコントラスト・ポジ・フィルムにニュープリントを起こし、テレシネしたスクィーズ・ニューマスター仕様。解説書(4P)封入。
