There she meets up with her husband Mark, a UN official working in the Gaza Strip in Palestine, and they plan to spend their vacation together. However, what was waiting for her at the airport was not her husband, but Tarek, an Egyptian who was her husband's former security officer at the UN. Mark had asked Tarek, whom he trusted, to meet his wife because of the trouble in the Gaza Strip that had delayed their arrival. Juliette was inconsolable in a strange and foreign city, waiting for her husband, who was not sure when he would arrive. Seeing her, Tarek showed her around the city. At first, Juliette is filled with anxiety about the historic streets and buildings, the smell of exotic cultures, and so on, but with Tarek's gentlemanly escort, she gradually comes to understand the charm of the city and people of Cairo. Juliette, who had been busy with work and raising her children, had not spent such a leisurely time or been treated as a woman, not a wife or a mother, for a long time. Before long, Juliette and Tarek find themselves not only liking each other, but gradually becoming more and more strongly attracted to each other...
