2001年、名門ジャズレーベル「ヴァーヴ」初の日本人女性シンガーとしてデビュー以来、日本のジャズシーンにおいて常に異色の存在であり続けるakikoが音楽監督を務めた映画『徒花-ADABANA-』 (監督: 甲斐さやか/出演: 井浦新、水原希子ほか/2024年10月18日全国公開)の世界観を受けてプロデュースした、インスパイアアルバム。生命について、存在について、深淵なテーマを問いかけるこの映画にインスパイアされ生まれた本アルバムは、劇中にも使用されている「亡き王女のためのパヴァーヌ」にオリジナルの英語詩を乗せて歌唱した曲とポエトリーリーディングを始め、ジャズ・スタンダードとして人気の高い「Yesterdays」、70年代屈指の名曲「Both Sides Now」のカバーVer.と共に、アルバムの世界観と呼応する書き下ろし曲を含めた全9曲を収録。水原希子、三浦透子、甲田益也子という『徒花-ADABANA-』のキャストがポエトリーリーデイングで参加。甲斐さやか監督とakikoが共同で作り上げた詩の朗読は、映画の世界観を美しく反映している。参加ミュージシャンとして、akikoとは2009年以来親交の深いノルウェーJAZZ界の奇才ブッゲ・ヴェッセルトフト、国内外で活躍するヴィブラフォン/マリンバ奏者のMasayoshi Fujita、自身の活動はもちろん米津玄師、KING GNU、MILEMIUM PARADEなどのバンドサポートで活躍するオルガニスト宮川純、そして同じく自身の活動に加えて渡辺貞夫、小野リサ、椎名林檎などのサポートおよび映画や舞台の音楽も手がけるピアニスト/作曲家、林正樹が名を連ねる。ジャケット含めブックレットには、映画キャストでもある永瀬正敏による撮影写真を使用。
