「愛することが、生きることだった。」三島有紀子監督が描く、不器用で愛おしい"男と女"たち。直木賞作家・島本理生の『Red』が映画化! 主人公の村主塔子役には、数々の作品で幅広い役柄を演じてきた女優・夏帆。かつて愛した男・鞍田役には、今の日本映画界において欠かせない存在の俳優・妻夫木聡。塔子に好意を寄せる小鷹役を演じるのは、第73回毎日映画コンクール男優主演賞等に輝いた今最も旬な俳優のひとり、柄本佑。また、塔子の夫・真役を演じるのは、間宮祥太朗。さらに片岡礼子、酒向芳、山本郁子、浅野和之、余貴美子ら日本映画界きっての実力派俳優陣が集結した。 ――「大雪の夜、車を走らせる男と女。先が見えない一晩の道行きは、ふたりの関係そのものだった。」 誰もがうらやむ夫、かわいい娘、"何の問題もない生活"を過ごしていた、はずだった塔子。10年ぶりに、かつて愛した男・鞍田に再会する。鞍田は、行き場のなかった塔子の気持ちを、少しずつ、少しずつほどいていく・・・。しかし、鞍田には"秘密"があった。過去と現在が交錯しながら向かう先の、誰も想像しなかった塔子の"決断"とは―。
