SICILIAN GHOST STORY

Directed and written by Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza, whose debut film won the Grand Prix at the 2013 Cannes Critics' Week. Luca Bigazzi (The Great Beauty: The Last Time I Saw Rome) is in charge of cinematography, inviting the audience into a magical and fantastical world. Luna, a young girl, is played by Julia Yedlikovska, whose dignified expression conveys a strong will. The tragic boy Giuseppe is played by Gaetano Fernandez, who is as beautiful as Timothee Chalamet in "Call Me by Your Name. Both actors are making their film debuts, but their performances are full of fresh charm. --In a small Sicilian village, a 13-year-old boy, Giuseppe, suddenly disappears at the edge of the forest. Luna, a classmate of Giuseppe's, cannot accept his mysterious disappearance and tries her best to track him down and find out the truth behind his disappearance, even though the adults around her are tight-lipped about it. Then, through an entrance in a mysterious lake, she descends into the dark world that has swallowed him. Only their undying love can bring her back to this world.
