Hayato Yoshikawa ( Kento Takahashi ), a genuine Satsuma kid, is a popular boy in his class with a strong sense of justice. 「ガンバレ」なんて気安く言わないで! 愛すべきお調子者たちが自分自身を乗り越えるグローイングアップムービー! 生粋の薩摩っ子・吉川隼人 (高橋賢人)は、ヤンチャで正義感が強いクラスの人気者。「負けるな! 嘘をつくな! 弱いものをいじめるな!」という鹿児島伝統の郷中教育の魂を受け継いだ彼にも、たったひとつだけついた"ウソ"があった。それは、カナヅチだということ。毎年夏に開催される「錦江湾横断遠泳大会」を仮病を使い参加を逃げきっていた隼人。しかし、小学生生活最後となる今年は父 (高嶋政宏)の愛情たっぷりの教育的指導と、学校のマドンナなっち先生 (松下奈緒)の誘いに抗えず強制参加・・・。謎多き転校生と過敏性腸症候群に悩むクラスメイトを仲間に迎え、やむをえず練習をはじめた隼人。そんな中、思いもよらない事件が発生する。彼らは無事に「錦江湾横断遠泳大会」に参加できるのだろうか――。
