宮崎吾朗監督初のテレビアニメシリーズ『山賊の娘ローニャ』DVD第5巻。 ──普段は人が入り込まないような、深い、深い森の奥。その森に囲まれた山の頂にある廃墟と化した城を根城にしているのがマッティス山賊だ。頭のマッティスと仲間たちは谷間を通りかかる商人たちを襲っては生計を立てていた。雷鳴がとどろき、鳥女が叫ぶ嵐の夜、激しい雷が落ちて城が真っ二つになってしまう。そんな大変な夜に、マッティスに一人娘が生まれた。名前はローニャ。山賊の娘ローニャ。マッティスや母のロヴィス、そして山賊たちに見守られながら、すくすくと成長したローニャは、ある日、城を出て一人で森に行く許しをもらうことになった。しかし、生まれて初めて出た外の世界は、美しいと同時に不可思議な生き物たちの棲む恐ろしいところでもあった。ローニャは自分の力で、また父や母の助けを借りながら、徐々に森で生きるすべを学んでいく。そしてある日、ローニャは、ビルクという名の少年と出会う。ビルクはマッティスが対立する山賊の頭ボルカの息子で、ローニャたちが知らぬ間に、裂けた城の反対側へ引っ越してきたのだった。はじめはビルクとぶつかり合っていたローニャだったが、森の中で助け合ううちに、いつしかお互いを「きょうだい」と呼ぶほどに仲良くなっていく・・・これは一人の少女の成長をとおして描く、家族の物語。 第13話～第15話収録。
