2015年に放送開始25周年を迎え、放送回数1100回を超える、日本人なら誰もが知っている国民的アニメ『ちびまる子ちゃん』の23年ぶりの劇場公開作品。脚本は原作者・さくらももこ自らが担当! テレビアニメのレギュラー陣は勿論のこと、映画にふさわしい超豪華なゲスト声優陣に加え、豪華アーティストも参加! 時代と国を超えた、映画ならではの"感動のストーリー"。 ――世界の5カ国からやってきた子どもたち。花輪くんのお願いで、みんなの家に外国の子どもたちがホームステイすることになったからさあ大変! まる子の家にはイタリアからやって来たアンドレアが来ることに。学校での授業に参加したり、週末には清水の町を飛び出して、みんなで大阪や京都へと出かけたりと楽しい日々を過ごすまる子たち。始めは、積極的なアンドレアに戸惑いながらも、日本に来た理由を聞いて、アンドレアの気持ちを知るまる子。一緒に行ったお祭りでは「また会えますように」とそれぞれお願い事をする二人。そんな楽しい日々にもいよいよお別れの時が――。
